How to transfer data from Android to Android phones1:

Step 1: Connect both phones wirelessly.

Turn on your new and existing Android phones to transfer data from one phone to another.

Your new Android phone will give you instructions right on the screen to connect your old device and transfer data from your phone.2

Step 2: Activate your SIM & sign in.

Next, follow the on-screen instructions to activate your SIM, add your Google Account, and set up biometrics.

Step 3: Select your data.

After that, you’ll choose what data you want to copy from your existing Android phone.

Step 4: Transfer your data.

That’s it! Your data will transfer over while you get to know your new phone.

Android Switch

On Pixel, you can transfer even after setup.

If you are a Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, or Pixel 9 Pro Fold user and figuring out how to transfer data from Android to Android, you can now access Android Switch after you have already set up your device.

Find it in settings, or on the Google Play Store.

Use a cable.

What can transfer:

  • 1. Connect both devices.

    Turn on your new Android device. When prompted, connect your new Android phone to your old iPhone using your Lightning to USB-C cable. In some cases, you might need an OTG adapter.

  • 2. Select your data.

    Follow the on-screen instructions to choose what to copy over—contacts, photos, messages, WhatsApp chats, and more. Disable iMessage so you do not miss a notification.

  • 3. Transfer.

    That's it. You’ve copied over your most important data onto your new Android phone.

If a cable is not available

Transfer wirelessly.

What can transfer:

  • 1. Connect both devices wirelessly.

    Turn on your new Android phone and follow the on-screen prompts. When asked if you have a cable, select "No cable," and follow the instructions to connect your iPhone and Android via Wifi using the Switch to Android app. To transfer data without a cable to Samsung devices, go here.

  • 2. Select your data.

    Follow the on-screen instructions to choose what comes with you—contacts, photos, videos, and calendar events. To transfer Messages and WhatsApp chats, you’ll need to use a cable.

  • 3. Transfer.

    That's it. Your personal data is now on your new Android phone. Just disable iMessage so you do not miss a notification.
